Getting to see the Team LS car run at NHIS was a very moving moment for me. Meeting Chet, Jamie, and Matt were equally as inspirational. After speaking with them, you really appreciate all the hard work and effort that these guys put into their passion, especially when it affects their families as well.

Shortly after going to the OLOA race, I spoke with Brian about LLSOC expressing our combined thanks to Team LS and how LLSOC would go about doing that. As a result of our endeavors, Matt, Jamie and Chet will each be receiving one of these:

user posted image

This is a poster I designed that emulates the "motivational" posters many of us have seen or may possibly own. The image is one of the photos I took at NHIS. The caption reads "DRIVE, Our Aspirations are our Possibilities." As a way of expressing our thanks to the team, the border around the image of the car embedded with the names of everyone who contributed to the 2005 Team LS. The poster is 20"H x 30"W and is professionally printed on heavy matte photo paper.

I hope Jamie, Matt and Chet like their gifts... and on behalf of LLSOC, our thanks.

Brian will explain how members will be able to order a poster.

Very cool!!!

Can't wait till they are available. I have a perfect spot in my office for it right next to a picture of my autocrossing my 2000 LS.

Nice work, Mike and a well-deserved acknowledgement , indeed. lswave.gif

Excellent job.

I know I will be purchasing at least one, but may I make a suggestion? Actually, two suggestions.

First, how much work would be involved in producing a smaller size as well? I know personally, I would love to have one of each.

Secondly, and this one is probably less do-able, but I'll as (suggest) anyway. What if we were to have an option to purchase at a premium autographed versions with partial proceeds going to Team LS?

I'm not trying to complicate things, just speaking out loud.

I'll go over here now.
mholhut
Thanks for all the compliments folks. I got my poster today... the first one llsocwave.gif and it's a top notch job!

Mike, it's no extra work to produce a smaller photo. The printing is outsourced so it's not my job. With photography, the largest image sample is usually the worst. So, I ordered the largest I could get (at a reasonable price) so I'd know the worst-case scenario. Since the original size of the digital image was larger than the area it occupies in the poster, it came out fantastic. The next size lower is 16"H x 20"W and would probably be a nice choice. Below that is an 8x10 and from the test photos I did, not all that fantastic. You can't distinguish the contributors names in the boarder... unless you don't care about that.

I was thinking about an autographed version, but with one of the guys leaving for Brazil in a few weeks, this seems like it may not happen. The only way I could do it would be for me to digitize their signatures and insert them into the photo. Not the same as an actual autograph, but the closest I could do in a short period of time.

All this would be for Brian to decide and setup... I'm just telling you what I/we are capable of doing.

Great job, Mike!

Mike, What was the imade size that you used for the photo.....and what was the camera that you used. I am curious because I am buying a new P&S digital camera. The one I am getting or have my I on is the Cannon SD500 7.1 MP.
Fantom
Very well done, Mike....and team! Count me in for one, as well, even if my name was omitted from the contributors list.

The camera you have your "I" on is a great one, Steve.

Thanks Gary! I just bought it 10 minuites ago!!! It will do everything I am buying it for.

Hey Gary, don't worry. This time I had Debbie double-check it as well to make sure your name is on the list around the border! oops.gif
TonyMan
cool.gif Yeah... But is it spelled right?

Last time I looked my last name was spelled wrong! ohmy.gif
But that's ok... I'm used to that.

Mike is it? Can you change it and reupload please?

P.S. Mike did an awesome job with this and he's got some other ones up his sleeve along the same lines. If there's enough interest we can put them up in the store as well.

The native image was something like 2400x3200 but I don't remember exactly. I know each shot was ~ 3-4MB file size. I had to crop the shot a bit so it would fit into the 23x30" poster size with the boarder. Picture was taken with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel (7.1 MP I believe) with 300mm lens. Digital SLR the way to go... no waiting or guessing to time the shot with inexpensive digital cameras. I'm saving my pennies for one of these!

Ooops, It's spelled "Massaso" on the poster. My bad. Actually, Brian and Debbie never caught it either. I'll change it tonight when I get home and swap it for the old image. It will only take a minute to do.
joelincoln
I believe the Digital Rebel is 6 MP. The new Rebel XT is 8.

I do?

Actually, I'm working on a poster for my office and for the guys I work with:

But, I'm open to more ideas if our members want them. I don't have to do a minimum run or anything, so shoot your ideas at me if you'd like. Hmmmm, there's that picture of Chris I've been meaning to do something with ph34r.gif
Sn8kbordin
Great job!

Will there be less serious versions of LS posters like that (I'm talking about the text on the pic)?
Something like a good ad would be nice, I guess.

OT:
Some P&S cameras have smaller sensors that takes the image than "PRO" cameras, so even when P&S camera has more pixels, the picture is worse than from a "PRO" camera with less pixels. blink.gif

Just something I read today

I can put whatever you want on the poster for text... or nothing at all. Let me know what you're looking to do.

Just got back from Walmart where I picked up a 20x30 black poster frame for $11.00. The poster looks beautiful mounted!

I think the wife is going to have a fit when she sees the thing hanging in the dining room mellow.gif

I've ordered the 3 prints for da boyz so they should get them in about a week.
mholhut
Have they arrived yet???

That's a great poster Mike! user posted image

Is there a way to purchase the full-size jpg version, I got tons of movie posters and pics of cars, so I really don't have a place to put it. So I don't really need a printed version, but I would like it for PC wallpaper on my HD monitor.
bggowing
I'll find out. I haven't heard anything from da boyz yet.
mholhut
Brian, you shipped it right to them?
bggowing
Yes.

I'd be a little hesitant to let a digital copy of this loose. I'm not making any money off of this and I'm kinda protective of my work. If I send you one, I'd be inclined to have a ghost image of my copyright across the middle of it.
angry_inch
Is this ready for purchase yet?

ALSO- Has anyone thought of selling these for profit, on maybe Ebay? When we did the ad on Ebay, we could include a link back to our club, as well as the club store, possibly bringing in additional members and/or sales.

Cool, I'm of the school that the more that have my work, the better. I give away medium/small versions of all the pics I take on my site and sell the full-size jpgs for pretty cheap. I know for a fact that my car pictures have been around the world (including a few laptops in Iraq and Afganistan ph34r.gif ) and clutter regular desktops wallpapers by the dozens. Plus, the useless little emoticons I make are more fun when you can use them to annoy others.

Sorry about taking so long.

The boyz got the prints and love them! They asked me to say a BIG THANK YOU! to everyone who helped out from LLSOC!

I've got the print in the store now for $35. Since we'll be going to NJ for a week we won't be able to process orders until we return but you can go ahead and order them if you'd like.

Excellent!

Thanks Bill, glad you like it! Remember, the native size of the image is larger than the printed image on the poster. So I actually shrunk the native image... it's not blown up. happy.gif

Tony should have his poster soon.

I got my poster today and it's awesome! Can't wait to get it in to Aaron Bros. for mounting and framing. My only problem now is trying to decide if I want to put it in my office at work or keep it at home. Decisions, decisions. biggrin.gif
