Unlike last year, this year we have the option of participating as a club in as many auto shows as our little hearts desire. Preferably we should attempt to make a decent size showing of members at the show to help out.

What we have done the last time we were invited to participate in the auto shows was to basically provide knowledge on the LS for the show participants if they had questions while they were looking at the LS. We also took the time to hand out LLSOC brochures to anyone who was interested and talked to them about the club. The other folks who have participated can also add information. You do get to have a different perspective on the auto show working behind the counter, so to speak.

If you are interested in participating I am posting the list of auto shows that the LS will be at. Prior to January it is iffy if the LS will be able to be scheduled for any of those shows so I didn't include them here. If interested post your interest here and what days and/or times you can work the show. As it gets closer to the actual date I'll be checking to see if you're still interested and fill you in on all the details at that point.

And, yes, we will be able to be there for the Big 3 shows, LA, NY, and Detroit.

Oh man, I am sooooo bummed out! mad.gif

The Phoenix auto show runs from January 1 through the 5th, and I'll be out of town for the holidays. I would have loved to participate, but as it stands, I will only be able to attend the last day. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif
joelincoln
OOOOOOO BABY.

For you new guys....

I did the show in NY two years ago and it was a blast. You got to be the "answer grape" because you will, of course, know more than even the Lincoln folks who are there. You get to hang around the car and watch as people poke and slam and ogle and drool  .

And when you tell them that you're an owner and don't work for Lincoln, they really take your comments seriously. And when they find out you're doing this for free, they think you're nuts! (but then they'd be right ! tongue.gif )

They just don't appreciate how educational, interesting and fun it is to be an industry insider for a day.

Of course, you must be polite, courteous, and tactful. But we are talking about LS owners, right?

You should all try it. Just make sure you wear comfy shoes.

What other car has owners volunteering to do this? I've been to several NY shows and don't remember meeting any others.

Joe

Brian,
I can do NY and Philly. What does TT and PF mean?
bggowing
TT stands for TurnTable. PF I'm not sure about but it probably means a spotlight role.
joelincoln
Good,
I don't want to get dizzy standing on one of those turntables... wacko.gif

Brian

Keep me in mind for LA. If I am not traveling that would be fun.

Lolaj42
Brian, what's the significance of the rank column on the right hand side of the schedule? Also, will Lincoln have at least one version of every model in the line-up? Since I don't see the LS listed for the Phoenix show, will it even be there?
DragonCPA
Sign me up for Philly!
ezaircon4jc
Brian,

Sign me up!!. Either Friday after 3pm (the 3rd) or Saturday the 4th. I'm sure Jeff and Mark will want to be there also. Should we pair up for this?
bggowing
I thought I had taken that column out. Oh well... You know I'm not sure. I originally thought it meant which was the most important shows but when I sorted it the rankings didn't make sense, even from a volume of people standpoint.

They are supposed to have one of each model there. The columns that show the cars as just the cars they've chosen for the highlights.
brunobus
I wouldn't mind doing the Denver show.

Are we going to have a banner that we will be able to put on a table in the Lincoln area or anything like that?
cinder
Put me down for at least one day at both the Ft. Worth and Dallas shows, probably the Saturday. I'm sure that John Eagle LM will be involved w/ both shows also, so it should be interesting to see it from the dealer point of view also.
SClouston
Bruno, I'd be glad to help with the Denver show. Split shifts, whatever you think. But there's no LS listed for that show.
bggowing
Scott,

Hey Scott,

I see a cool lookin' avatar there below your name. I was hoping that you were able to get it to work. I have the same basic shot in a video I have, I was going to capture a still from it, convert to jpg and change my avatar just to "get your goat", but I didn't have the heart to do it rolleyes.gif
funkcity
Two Lincoln/Mercury Concept Cars at the Detroit Show!

Hmm anyone know anything about them??
airwolf1000
Brian,
You know I will be pitching the LS at Dallas and at Fort Worth.
gregwo
Likewise, I'll pitch in for the Cincinnati show! This should be a unique experience...
drolds1
Count me in for NY, of course. I had a great day last time.

JoeLincoln said it all.
Fantom
I'll do Ft. Lauderdale 3/13/03-3/23/03. Will I get in trouble if I try to cross sell all the senior citizens looking at the TC? cool.gif
Murray
Brian, add me in for the Phoenix show. Sounds like a blast!
jansdog
I'll be able to do a few hours each day except sunday at the Omaha show, GOD willing & the creeks don't rise. rolleyes.gif
bggowing
I was wondering if anyone noticed that the NAIAS in Detroit was showing two LM concept vehicles on the turntables. Not that I know anything but it would be interesting if one of those happened to be the off-again, on-again Hi-Po LS wouldn't it? smile.gif
casey
I may be willing to participate in the Milwaukee (hometown) or Peoria (where I live now) shows.
funkcity
Brian You are the Man!
I hope Lincoln appreciates that the most qualified in-the-know LS folks are us.
Now I am not suggesting to dispense with semi-dressed models but... rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif

Brian, Los Angeles Show:
I am good either Saturday Jan 4th or 11th

blink.gif Brian,

Don't see a San Francisco auto show. Used to do them at Moscone Center. I'd do it if there was one. Probably other Nor. Cal members would too.

Bebop
bggowing
There is but it's before January and we've been told that they can't guarantee that they will have a LS available for those shows so I didn't bother posting them. Didn't think that the club members would want to do a show without a LS on the floor to talk about.
cclittle
Calling all Michiganders...

Who's up for the Detroit show?

And if we can't get enough Michigan members, we'll take Ohio-types too... ph34r.gif LOL.gif
bggowing
There are definitely 3 shows we should show a large club member presence: Los Angeles International Auto Show, New York International Auto Show, and the Detroit (North American International Auto Show).

These are known as the big 3 and are the ones where most of the unveilings happen. NAIAS is also where you'll see most of the automotive brass show up.
funkcity
And the LM Concept cars are only in Detroit! Darn!
SClouston
Thanks, Brian. I'll add "literacy challenged" to my resume. blush.gif

cinder, you're welcome to my goat. I keep it well fed so there's always plenty to go around.
BOBO
I would be happy to do the Philadelphia Auto Show. I am new at this so I may need some pointers. rolleyes.gif
joelincoln
Bob,
I'm Joe Milano...the NJ Co-director.

I don't know if we've spoken yet but let me welcome you to the club.

Please take a look at the NJ forum down at the bottom of the forum list under Eastern States. We plan on a neat event on 10/27. Hope you can attend.

I plan on going to the Philly show and I'll be happy to show you the ropes. All you really got to do is stand there and look helpful. You'll probably be wearing a badge that will identify you as an LLSOC member (I've still got mine when I did the NY show). And then simply answer questions. It also helps to listen in on conversations and politely interject your comments even if you're not asked.

Talk to you soon,
Force98
I'm envious of you guys--no show here in Albuquerque. Perhaps I'll drive up to Denver.
brunobus
You're always welcome up here.
DPranouskes
I would be happy to work the Show in Orlando, I worked it last year as a L/M employee and pretty much hung around the LS anyways, but I would be willing to represent LLSOC this year.
jmccoy6
I would be willing to do one day at the Chicago Auto Show.
bggowing
Time to revive this topic!

Anyone like to volunteer as Auto Show Coordinator? Basically it would mean just going through and collecting a list of all the Auto Show volunteers, what show they are volunteering for, and what dates/times they would be able to do it.

I can then take that list back to Lincoln to get their blessing on it and start mailing out shirts and instructions and brochures.

Thanks,
Brian
dogcam
Brian, that's a tall order for one person. Not trying to be rude, but isn't that part of the job for charter members?

The major car shows would be more difficult then say Raleigh....
I know it would take up a lot of time for one individual, I'd help in any way, but to coordinate the whole affair...??
bggowing
Lemme put it this way. I would normally be playing the part of Auto Show Coordinator along with everything else that I do so it isn't that big a deal. All I'm talking about is a spreadsheet of who wants to do what. Besides I think you mean Chapter Directors, don't you? smile.gif I just don't have the time to coordinate it and make sure that we've got good coverage for at least the big 3 shows (LA, NY, and NAIAS)
then399
Brian,

Count me in for the NY show, my office is about five blocks away..

Thank Tom
joelincoln
Brian,
You know what they say in the Army...

Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut and
NEVER VOLUNTEER.

But since I was never in the Army, cool.gif

I'll be the coordinator if you like.

God, will I hate myself in the morning. unsure.gif

bggowing
Sold! Thank you Joe! I'll buy you a glass or two of your favorite libation when I see you in NJ!

Folks, If you can dedicate some time to the auto show in your area, for at least a 4 hour stint, please email Joe Milano at joe.milano@llsoc.com. Please give him a first choice, second, third for dates and times, in case we get too loaded up for a specific day. You can sign up for multiple times or days if you'd like.

This is a fun experience, especially if you get to the shows before the doors open to the public. You get to browse the cars without a whole lot of traffic around.

One more thing as well. The attire for being a volunteer at the Auto Show will be black pants (Dockers, dress pants, definitely not jeans), comfortable dress or business casual shoes and the LLSOC black polo shirt!
drolds1
I didn't see this until this AM! Of course, I'll help.
bggowing
For anyone planning on attending the January and February auto shows, Joe will need your participation information ASAP and definitely no later than the Dec. 15 so we can get the LLSOC polo shirts ordered, embroidered and shipped out to you BEFORE the show!

Joe, if you can get me the updates as you get them it would be much appreciated! Send the spreadsheet to me and copy Debbie please. That way we can send the shirts out as we know who's doing what show.
joelincoln
Will do boss.

Here's a list of the Jan and Feb shows. Please email me with your choices.

Also, in answer to a question, please realize that there is no physical work for us to do at these shows. All we do is walk around the display, answer questions and offer our unique perspective on the car. Oh, and we also usually totally confuse and confound the other displayers who can't understand how Lincoln manages to allow owners to freely interact with the public at their show. smile.gif

Hey Brian, I think you should "pin" this thread.
bggowing
Consider it pinned!
Dyohn
I've signed up for San Jose. Someone asked about San Francisco - I went to that show and they sure could have used one of us there. Even though they had the LS on their TT, the "hosts" on the floor only knew what their crib notes told them about the car.

Oh yea, I'd be very happy to be at the New Orleans and Honolulu shows. I'll just need Lincoln to send me a plane ticket and cash for the hotel for those. That shouldn't be a problem, eh? LOL.gif
dpgowing
tongue.gif LOL.gif LOL.gif

ROTFLOL:

You think that Brian and I wouldn't have signed up for that if a plane ticket and hotel could be arranged????? Cuz ya know the Kahuna's belong in Hawaii - don't ya think!!!!

Nice try though happy.gif
